TIPS AND HINTS

1. Recycle jewellery that you don’t like or that just didn’t sell. You paid for the beads, why not use them again.

2. If you get an idea for a new design, sketch it on paper and then file it in a file that you keep specially for this purpose. Later, when you have no inspiration, just browse through the file. Most of the time there will be something that catches your eye.

3. Wear your jewellery. It’s the best advertisement you can think of.

4. Buy a large rectangular magnet (the one’s used for knives) and ask your husband to mount it on the wall near your workspace. Hang all your tools on the magnet. Your workspace will always be tidy and everything is within easy reach.

5. Always use a clasp that goes with the theme of your product. Not only does it compliment the product but your product also looks more expensive.

6. Don’t buy expensive fishing line from a beadshop. Buy cheap fishing line from your local fishing shop. Look for 0,295mm or 0,28mm. It is very strong and works great.

7. Always keep your workspace tidy. When you buy beads, put them away right away. You don’t want to sort out a whole box of beads. Put them either colour with colour, or shape with shape.

8. If you have to make a bracelet for a strange person and you are not entirely sure about the wrist size, rather use a lobster clasp with an extender.

9. To prevent tigertail from pulling out of the crimp bead, you can use either one of the following methods: Use two crimp beads at the end of the tigertail, or pull the tigertail once through the crimp bead and pull it through once again.

10. Design your necklace or bracelet on a beadboard to see if it is to your liking. This way you can change whatever you don’t like.

11. To prevent your gut from unwinding from the spool, paste a small piece of plastic with a slit through, on the spool. Just pull the end of the gut through each time you've used it.
